Did 1.13 breake 1.12.2 resource packs?...

Hey there, I have been making a resource pack using optifine's CIT feature and it has been working great so far. I would make a 3d model, when I rename it say... Stormbreaker it would then change to that 3d model, neat right?
However I went on a 3 day vacation and when I came back (yesterday), I had to re-log into Minecrafts launcher because of an "unknown error". That is a message I have never seen before, but I did it and now the resource pack does not work at all, the 3d models are loading, but the textures will not appear on them no matter what I do to it. Everything was fine before that update and after I came back its now broken.
My question is: What the heck happened?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I figured it out!

I found out my model creator wasn't working properly, idk why but Blockbench wouldn't edit the models texture path even though it says it was, so I just opened the .json files manually and edited the texture path with notepad++. It works fine now.

Btw, the pack I'm making is for a lotr addon for lucraft, easy way to add armors since idk how to code really.

I used 1.13 for a bit then switch back to 1.12.2 and 1.8.9 and all my resource packs and stuff have been fine.

Hmm... That's strange. I had broken textures when my 1.12 texture pack entered 1.13, but not when I returned. Are you sure you're having the exact same issues in 1.13? Otherwise you might have broken animations or something.

Actually you can. The problem is the json format.

So in 1.12 and before, it would be /summon cow ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Garry"}
Now in 1.13 its /summon cow ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"{\"text\":\"Garry\"}"}

Its a lot harder

i ment custom names for items, blocks... via resource pack... in "lang" file... :) or in text folder..

1.13 broke EVERYTHING from previous versions: resource packs, commands, servers, even some builds

Well, I'm not even using 1.13, I'm still in 1.12.2 but they arent working anymore.

I am not sure but I guess they changed a lot of the normal block data. Mcedit and co are not working for the new version anymore.
