Spaceship are unreal things, so there's no " Good way " to build them, What i suggest is to get on google and browse for spaceship, I like the idea of the End,
You can't just ask for where to start like that. A build is like an accomplishement, you need to figure out yourself, and once done, You're proud of it.

Look around PMC, search for ships with lots of attention, download these and take a look at them. Try to recreate shapes, experiment, and create your own. It's all about practice

Id start with a long line of like oak wood going down where the middle of the boat should be, then make like the shape of the bottom off of that center point

What i did a while ago is hollowing out the End and making a spaceship in the hollow end. Makes it look like its in space too!
