The crab was my vote, I wonder what else they may have done for it if it would have won 🤔

Admittedly, I voted for the armadillo, but in hindsight the crab would have been a lot better.

Even if the penguin buff applied to ice ways it would just be overkill. Most likely the chunks won’t be able to load as fast as you enter and exit them.

The crab’s claw is the most useful by far. Even if all it does is allow you to place stuff 1-2 blocks away. It makes base/redstone building more convenient, jump-bridgebuilding from gaps is easier, the same goes for placing blocks when falling down a hole etc.

It’s small, but still very usable quality of life upgrade. And personally I think it’s the funniest mob to have around compared to the other two. I can already imagine my base with crabs running around.

Oddly, had the crab been purely atmospheric (i.e. was not made the source of a special purpose bit of kit), I think it would have been a better fit…

[​Adding things that are of use only in special or unusual circumstances strikes me as a poor use of development resources and teh crab claw allowing extended reach when block placing/breaking does not seem to me to be worth the hotbar slot needed when simply adding another bit of scaffolding (actual scaffold block or other) would accomplish the same end.]

Honestly, crabs are so much cuter than armadillos. Had they been added, I would’ve kept them in an aquarium at my base.
