this data-pack adds the long awaited Minecraft mob the mimic, many mods have done this in the past yes but I don't think this has ever been done in a data-pack. This data-pack might be updated to newer versions when I have time so please don't ask me about when it will be updated next

not only that the mimic doesn't have any single texture difference unlike it's older version the trapped chest
To Set-Up a Mimic Type in chat =
/function mimicdatapack:mimic_spawn_egg
Put this into a repeat always active command block =
/function mimicdatapack:mimic_function
Then to spawn the mimic once the spawn egg is placed type =
/function mimicdatapack:spawn_mimic
