Have you ever wished to capture a squid in a bucket just like a fish, well this datapack is for you. To capture a squid simply throw a water bucket at it. To release it throw the squid bucket (in any direction except downward), it will place a squid (which will NOT despawn) and a water block at your feet and give you an empty bucket back.

-In order to see the "squid in a bucket" texture you'll also need to download the rescourcepack

-Stuff that may look like a bug but isn't
-The squid spawned inside a block
-You probably threw your bucket downward
      -The water didn't get placed
-The water won't replace any blocks aside from air so you were probably inside a block or something similar
-I didn't get my bucket back
-Were you very near another player? That part of the code uses the @p selector so the bucket may have gone to another player's inventory

    -BUGS
-Releases squid when a player holding a squid in a bucket dies
      -Places water on Nether

-You may not redistribute this datapack or claim it as your own. You may show it in youtube videos, share it... as long as you credit me

To install put the datapack .zip file in your world's datapack folder and the rescourcepack .zip file in your rescourcepacks folder

Files may need to be unzipped

-The fix in v1.1 caused issues in multiplayer so reverted it back (if you don't use this datapack in multiplayer there's no need to update it)

Like the datapack! Did a showcase video of it on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j4c3rmaF7A&t=129s Keep up the good work. Also, maybe you could make a crazy datapack where you could get any mob in a bucket just for fun?

Cool! I'm pretty sure you can do it with any mob, just go into the datapack files and put "creeper" (as an example) everywhere that says squid. Change the name of the item in out.mcfunction where it says "Squid in a Bucket" and make your own texture in the rescourcepack (make sure the texture is named the same as the old one).

Hi - I'm researching into Data Packs to be added to my spreadsheet that server owners go to find plugins, mods, resource and data packs all in one place. I'd like to add this data pack to it, but first need to know if this is for Single Player, Multi-Player or both? -Thanks! Steve

So it works in both but if in multiplayer only needs to be installed in the server
