Have you ever wished the Skylands of old were real? Have you ever wanted to use a glowstone portal for real? How about doing all of this in vanilla in a dimension carefully crafted for survival Minecraft, and even multiplayer? Ever wanted to survive in a new full dimension?
Well today is your lucky day! The Skylands have been reborn, and they are better than ever! With the new dimension format, each Skylands will be unique to the seed of the world!
How do I access this wonderful dimension, you ask? Simple! Build a standard 4 wide by 5 tall nether portal, except instead of obsidian, use glowstone, and instead of a flint and steel, use a bucket to place some water anywhere in the portal frame.
Then simply hop on in! But watch your step on the arrival! (See gif below)
The Skylands house incredible generation of a world with no bottom, deserts that could crumble any moment, and treacherous drops into the bottomless world. Most normal structures are included, including most vanilla biomes. All normal survival tools do also work, including beds which allow you to set your spawn, however see notes below for functionality regarding the bed. A nether portal will also not work.
Special Effects:
Certain mobs and a few blocks have special effects on them, inspired by the Aether mod. For instance, sand will give you a speed boost if you're walking on or above it! If you don't like these effects, there is a command to turn them off in the FAQ below.

Due to how Mojang handles world generation, I have heard reports that you cannot delete dimension/world generation datapacks from your server after installing them, you CAN disable this datapack, and that will disable access to the dimension, but the datapack will probably have to stay in the server files to avoid any crashes or problems.

How do I install this datapack?
Simply download the file, and place it into the datapack folder of your world, no unzipping needed at all, or when creating a world, drag the downloaded file into the left pane to allow you to then add it to the world via the interactive list.
How do I get rid of the special effects on mobs and blocks in the Skylands?
If you don't wish to have those effects in play, simply use this command:

Since the Skylands are in the sky, falling off of them places you high above the overworld, should you take a misstep into the abyss. Hope you brought a bucket, or some water is nearby!
Oh no! My portal broke!
Fear not! Rebuilding the portal, and re-activating it with a water bucket should link it back up to the original portal, as when placing a destination portal for a newly created portal, it attempts to link to pre-created portals in the arriving dimension. If you want portals to not interfere with each other, a minimum distance of 16-17 blocks on the x and z axis is recommended to prevent cross linkage.
I placed water in the portal and it didn't activate?
There could be two reasons, you did it at an odd angle which my system couldn't track, or there may have been some other block inside the portal frame (stray flowing water if you just tried it and it didn't work, or any non-air block within the frame). Simply remove the water, wait for it to clear out, and try again at a less acute angle to the surface you are placing the bucket on. If it still doesn't work, make sure another portal isn't really close!
I slept in a bed, but it's still night time?
Unfortunately, due to how buggy minecraft (or snapshots) can be, currently sleeping in a bed in a different dimension lets you sleep, but doesn't set it to day for some reason. This bug is reported to mojang! We will see if they get around to it.
One workaround is to travel to the overworld and sleep, then come back and set your spawn in the Skylands again, as the time of day and weather are currently fixed to the overworld time and weather.

My portal won't ever link on my multiplayer server?
If you've just installed the datapack, you will want to use /reload as well as restarting the server, since the new dimension can't be added while the server is running. If the problem persists, please feel free to let me know!
I made two portals next to each other, and the second one didn't work/didn't light?
Portals will not form if too close to another portal, try going a bit further away to get your second portal to light!

Fixed BUG where placing water down near jack-o-lanterns would turn them into glowstone, I apologize that this bug was uncaught, I have now used a command that does not replace any blocks to check if a portal is built, so all blocks should be safe to use around portals.
