For the scrap cost. I did the math. There are 9 diamond items in the game. In the original game, we would need one block of netherite to upgrade everything, and that costed 36 scraps. Now, these new costs total 35 scraps. So, we are saving a grand total of 1 scrap!

Of course, most players would make a second pickaxe instead of a chestplate. That would make the new grand total 30 scraps. So we are saving 6 scraps, or 1.5 ingots. That's not a lot.

Unfortunately, there is one thing that makes the pack very unbalance. The original, smithing recipes are still intact. Therefore, with diamond gear, we can get netherite stuff for the extremely low price of a single scrap! That means there is no point using the new, equipment recipes.

However, if those existing recipes were changed or removed, then this pack would be very balanced. It just allows players to skip some steps. Then my only, real complaint would be to change the original, smelting recipe, so we can skip one more step.

You need a diamond pickaxe to mine ancient aebris, so this pack doenst make so lot of sence...

With your datapack you take away the use of the smithing table and value the diamonds. Although it is the logical sense of the game and the Netherite as unique material. Without alloys. Anyway, ill stay with vanilla this time.
