Minecraft But... Everything can be a Target!
By FlashTeens
How to download & get it work (click to expand)
- Click on both "DOWNLOAD FRAMEWORK" and "DOWNLOAD: THE SCENARIO" buttons to download the required data packs.
- Open Minecraft, and then create a world and put these two data packs into the folder named "datapacks". (See also: the tutorial on Minecraft Wiki)
- Enter your world, and type the runner command provided by the framework as follows:
/function bertiecrafter:mcb/runner
And, you'll see the runner machine that runs the scenario. - Enjoy the world of archery where everything is a target!
Since Minecraft 1.16, there have been target blocks that make archery possible.
But... this might not be enough to satisfy you...
"Why target blocks always look like this?"
"All these blocks have bullseyes as well. Why aren't they working, too?"
Now, it's time to make your archery soul great again!
With this data pack, everything that looks like a target IS actually a target!
And, let's take out your bow and arrows (or tridents), and try hitting on any "targets" that you see! Since everything can be a target, it should be very easy for you to find a target. Ex: You'll see one right after felling a tree, as now tree logs are targets, too!
Once you hit the target, you'll be given different rewards depending on which block you're hitting.
For example, you get some extra arrows when hitting a fletching table; and you get spruce planks upon hitting a spruce log.
By the way, beware that some specific blocks may be harmful if your accuracy score is too low.
Ex: when you hit an infested chiseled stone brick with an accuracy less than 70%, instead of getting any rewards, you'll actually see some silverfishes spawned from the block!
Also, you will see an accuracy message showing on the screen that indicates how accurate you hit the target.
So far, this data pack has already supported the following blocks:
- Target blocks (of course!)
- Emerald blocks
- Chiseled stone blocks (including infested variants)
- Lodestones (4 of sides do look like a target!)
- Logs (all wooden logs + crimson and warped stems, including stripped variants as well)
- Other pillars that look like a target in default textures, such as quartz pillars, bee nests, polished basalt, and ancient debris.
- Fletching tables.
Have fun enjoying this data pack and the "Minecraft but ???" data pack event! 😀
FAQs
- I'm too lazy to find the "targets" on my own. Is there any way to get all target-like blocks at once?
- For this case, please type the following command in the chat:
/function flashteens:mcb/debug/give_everything
and your inventory will be refilled with a bow, 64 arrows, and a red shulker box containing all target-like blocks supported by this data pack. - For multiplayer cases, note that you have to be an operator to run this command.
- Still, it's strongly discouraged to get everything with such a command, as it's kind of a "cheating" way that might ruin your gaming experience. XD
- For this case, please type the following command in the chat:
- I found another block that looks like a "target" as well, but it is neither listed on this page nor working in game.
- Please leave the comment below, and I will implement the mechanism as long as feasible.

Update #1: Removed the mechanism that gives you super OP stuffs when scenario starts. 😂😂 : by flashteens 03/22/2021 1:21:20 amMar 22nd, 2021
To make the target game more challenging, I have removed the mechanism that automatically gives you some super OP stuffs like a red shulker box with all target-like blocks you may want.
It's time to find all the targets on your own! 😁
But, if you're still too lazy to find them out, here's still a "cheating" way for you: just type the following command in your chat:
/function flashteens:mcb/debug/give_everything
See more details on the FAQ section in the description.

I reviewed the data pack and here's the feedback:
check_circle Approved for the event at EST 22/03/2021 3:04
I actually let it give all the OP things primarily for debugging purposes, and didn't even think that they're actually super OP for a typical survival player. 😂😂
So, now I have updated the data pack and removed this mechanism at the start of the scenario, and now the only way to get those OP things is entering some cheating commands (see on the update log & the description), and it becomes a discouraged way as well. XD
