You have been waiting for this and I finally posted it!
The lifesteal datapack is all good and finished. It also requires a resource pack.
Features:
/trigger withdraw_heart to withdraw a heart
Drop a heart near a player in spectator to revive them!
You can craft hearts! You will get a knowledge book but it'll turn into a heart once you get it.
Killing players grants you hearts!
Dying removes hearts.
For server owners:
To make the resource pack be applied to all people online to these steps if you don't know how.
In your server folder find "server.properties". Open it with a text editor and find the line that says "resource-pack=..." and paste this after the equal sign:

It's basically a link to the resource pack so the server knows where to get the file from.

Doing
/scoreboard players set @s lose_hearts_due_to_normal_deaths 0
will make you not lose hearts on normal deaths.
Change @s to @a to change losing hearts to all players online.
Change the 0 to a 1 to revert it and make people lose hearts on normal deaths.
