The Project
The Item Frame Tools (Revamped) Data Pack provides three main functionalities:
I. Access to invisible item frames in Survival Minecraft.
II. The ability to lock item frames so they can't be unintentionally modified.
III. Easy fine tuning and flexibility (keep reading to learn more)
How to use
Minecraft 1.19+ (but also works for MC 1.18+)
This version is easier to use! You can now make item frames invisible as well as lock them using the same tool (tripwire hooks are not used anymore). Five tools are now available in this datapack:
Important:
This new version is also compatible with both single-player and multi-player but it needs to be activated. Some functionalities work automatically, i.e: Locked Item Frames are locked for all players, but if you want to use the Tools you need to activate/opt in by running this command in chat (press the 't' key to open chat) and type:
/trigger ItemFrameTools
Running the same command again will deactivate the tools for your player. You can toggle the functionalities anytime.
Installation
The download button gets you the latest version while the alternative link provided contains 3 different versions of the datapack. You need to unpack them and only copy the version compatible with your Minecraft version and then drag the zip file to your datapacks folder inside your world or server.

| Visibility Toggle | Makes item frames or glow item frames invisible or visible | Hold either an item frame or a glow item frame in your hand and right-click on a placed item frame. |
| Lock Toggle | Makes it so items inside item frames won't rotate when interacted with by any players. It's also not possible to change their visibility. The same tool can also unlock item frames. Items can still be removed. | Hold either an item frame or a glow item frame in your hand and right-click on a placed item frame while sneaking |
| Perma Invisibility Toggle | Keeps item frames invisible even when items are removed from them. The default behavior is for item frames to turn visible automatically when items are removed from them, this tool changes this behavior. | Hold any kind of invisibility potion in your hand and right-click on a placed item frame. Note: In survival mode there is a 10% chance that an invisibility potion will be consumed from your inventory. |
| Highlight | Outlines all locked item frames with a glow effect within a radius of 24 blocks for 10 seconds. Useful to check consistency on large storage rooms and places with multiple item frames in general. | Right-click any item frame with an empty hand (empty hotbar slot) while sneaking. |
| Transmutation | Turns item frames into glow item frames and vice-versa. It's magical! | Hold a glow ink sac in your hand and right-click on a placed item frame. Note: In survival mode the glow ink sac will be consumed to create the glow item frame. Also a glow ink sac will drop when converting glow item frames back into regular item frames. |

- Fixed a bug where items picked from item frames had extra tags so they wouldn't stack.
