Does what it says in the title. Enables you to grow 2x2 oak trees. Unfortunately it only works by using bone meal. Cant lets these large trees grow on their own as you can with spruce. Otherwise functions just like the spruce trees. This pack also allows you to guarantee growth of the 1x1 large oaks and the extra tall birch trees by placing a bonemeal block below the soil your sapling is on.

To turn on the data pack, you will need to run this command: /function fancy_trees:setup
If the command fails, run the command and try again: datapack enable "file/Fancy Trees"

    Enjoy your trees!

Update as of 1.20.5: The download now contains two separate zip folders. the old zip folder, and the new one containing the changes that came with the 1.20.5 update. If you used the old one and would like to update to the new version. remove the old "Fancy Trees 1.1" or older files from the world and replace the file with the new "Fancy Trees 1.1 1.20.5" zip folder. In theory doing this, you will not need to run any commands and it should continue running as normal within your world.

    Update v1.1 : by Legointhemoon 10/22/2022 6:10:32 amOct 22nd, 2022

Now includes two more tree types! (sort of) Vanilla tall birches and the normal fancy oaks are now reliable to grow. Place a bone block directly below the block the sapling is on and the corresponding type of tree will grow.

Great Oaks (2x2 Oak trees) now require air space above the saplings to grow (14 blocks of air to be exact)

Datapack no longer destroys the sapling when the tree fails to grow.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get it to work. I unzipped the file, put it in my datapacks folder, enabled it, and ran the /function command (definitely spelled correctly). But I'm still getting only single saplings to grow with bonemeal. Troubleshooting ideas?

Were you able to get it to work? I don't know what would cause the trees to grow as the normal 1x1 trees in that situation, but i'm down to help try debugging it if you are still having issues.
