Chain Crafter is a data pack that does 1 very simple thing: allows you to craft chainmail armour with chains, because even though chains are in the game from 1.16 onwards, you can't make chainmail armour with them.
Basically, you craft the armour how you normally would with any other armour but with chains. The helmet and boots need to be in a specific position, with the helmet being at the top of the table and the boots being at the bottom, or look at the screenshots if you need help.
In the very old versions of Minecraft, you can craft chainmail armour with fire. (Yes, literal fire, although I can't remember how to get it)
This should work for 1.16 and above, even if it says incompatible.
How to install:
In a a new world:
When you are creating a new world, go to more, and press data packs. Keep the data pack zipped, and you can open the data packs folder and put it in there or drag and drop the zip file in. Once done, press the arrow to enable the data pack, or use /datapack enable chain-crafter.
If that doesn't work drag and drop as a file and try from there.
In an old world:
Select the world and press edit. Then press open world folder, go to data packs, then put the zip file in the data packs folder. It should be enabled, but just in case, type either /reload or /datapack enable chain-crafter
