Butterflies & Dragonflies
This datapack adds 12 unique variants of Butterflies and Dragonflies into your world! You can catch them in a *bugnet*, or kill them to display their bodies.
Butterflies:
There are 8 kinds of butterflies, and they can spawn almost anywhere other passive mobs can spawn. Here are the butterfly variants:
- Apollo
- Blue Morpho
- Colorado Hairstreak
- Clouded Sulphur
- Malachite
- Monarch
- Red Lacewing
- Zebra Longwing
You can see what each of these types look like in the gallery on Modrinth.
Dragonflies:
There are 4 kinds of dragonflies, and they can spawn around rivers and swamps. The dragonfly has a special ability to hover every little while. Here are the dragonly variants:
- Blue Dasher
- Eastern Pondhawk
- Eight-Spotted Skimmer
- Roseate Skimmer
You can see what each of these types look like in the gallery on Modrinth.
Bugnet:
You can craft yourself a bugnet with two sticks and three string. The recipe formation is shown in the gallery on Modrinth.
Right-click on a butterfly or dragonly with a bugnet to catch it! The bugnet will be displayed as a "Filled Bugnet" and will tell you in the lore of the item what insect has been caught. You can right-click again to release it.
Advancements:
This datapack comes with a custom advancement tree! I won't spoil that however, you have to play it and try to unlock all the advancements!
Other Info:
Once the datapack in installed, you can pull up a menu with "/function mb_butterfly:menu" where you can access all mobs and items added with this datapack.
Please note that this datapack was designed for Minecraft 1.19.4, and using lower versions may result in a few bugs (Get it?).
