Gravestones for Dead Players
With this datapack, whenever a player dies, a gravestone is created to store their items. This gravestone will save all the item entities in the vicinity of the players death. On multiplayer servers, players can only destroy their own gravestones (this can be disabled in-game).
What makes this datapack different?
Usage
After installing this datapack in .minecraft/saves/<savename>/datapacks, reload the world. Your directory may be different on a server. Any players who die after this will create a gravestone. If you want to change various settings about the datapack, run the following command. (you must be in creative to do this).
Sometimes the glow effect on graves doesn't work. There is no reasonable explanation for this.
If a player dies inside a block (like grass), the gravestone will replace this block. If the block is a chest, hopper, brewing stand, etc, it will be placed one block above this block. This behavior will cause it to break portal blocks, so watch out for this.
Gravestones have been known to fail to return stored items on particularly laggy servers. This is very rare and cannot be helped, so the datapack stores a backup of the contents of the last 16 graves created in the world in minecraft:gravestone GraveBackups. These backups can be accessed with the following command (n is a number 0 - 15 that targets the grave you want to see the contents of). This data can be appended to a chest's inventory or another gravestone to get the items back.

What makes this datapack different?
- Gravestones are a physical block that must be mined.
- They have a glowing effect to help you find them, which can be disabled.
- Only the grave's owner can actually break it to retrieve their items, although this can be optionally disabled.
- Gravestones will save players' items from any death (mobs, lava, falling, etc).
- Items are not stored as entities but as data in the grave block.
- Since a gravestone will obviously not save your items from the void, players who fall into the void in the End will fall into the Overworld at the same coordinates they were at in the End instead of dying and losing their items (this setting can also be disabled).

in creative you can disable Grave Ownership. When grave ownership is disabled anyone can break anyone else's grave.
