I agree that people should not get diamonds or subs if its clear that they haven't put much time or effort in and the end result isn't good. However I think that people who put a lot of effort in deserve a diamond or at least a nice comment even if the end product isn't particularly good because they've tried hard at it and probably learnt something about skinning/modding/texturing/building. The fact that they made so much effort, I feel, means they do deserve diamonds. I do completely agree with you though that any old submission shouldn't get diamonds and subs simply because they uploaded something - the effort and dedication should definitely be clear to deserve one.

People like to believe what they make is of worth, and I don't blame them.

I feel like if I put a lot of work in to something, it would be nice for me to get diamonds so it's recognized. I don't expect people to give me stuff for nothing though.

The reason people feel entitled to diamonds (to my knowledge) is that they feel they will be buried underneath the users who people flock to because of their diamond count; they have no chance of "making it big" because they won't be noticed.

I don't think this is ever going to change, as this is the dynamic on every site with a rating system.
I think the rating system itself needs to change.
