Blog number 2 in the "Let's talk projects"series by TwIsTeD_uP454 aka WWGemar
Have you ever seen the gigantic difference of views on projects of the same level of quality? No? OK, you can leave now. Yes? Well then I hope you continue reading because this is a serious matter.
THIS IS NOT A BLOG EXPLAINING HOW TO GET MORE VIEWS. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THAT, CLICK here.
Whenever I check out the most viewed projects on PMC, I see some really weird looking, low quality, boring builds, yet they have over 5 000 (5,000 for all Americans) views. And then you have some amazing builds with an impressive thumbnail, a fancy description and a download, and you realize that this build doesn't even have 500 views. Now you're wondering: How can that be? Well, it's actually quite simple. Take a look for yourself ;)
1) Subscribers
This is the rarest case of all explanations. You're looking at a low-quality build with thousands of views and you realize the builder is a really high level with many subscribers. Doesn't happen often, though, as experienced builders know how to create the best thumbnails.
2) Age
This happens to me quite a lot. I often notice that the builds that are the oldest (let's say 3 years) have more views than the new ones that are high quality even though the older ones are low-quality. The obvious answer for you is that the older builds have been around longer and therefore have more views than new high-quality builds. Errr, yes and no, actually. What I actually mean is that, 3 years ago, no one had/used texture packs so PMC users were used to lower quality builds with less interesting thumbnails and screenshots. Also, the variety and selection back then was way smaller, so the standards of a typical PMC user were EXTREMELY low compared to nowadays.
3) Size
3 years ago, projects on PMC were a lot bigger, since builds were less detailed (also, Minecraft had less blocks back then) and therefore had more time to do exterior and leave the interior simple! The bigger the build, the more views and attention you get.
There, I hope you liked this blog. It's probably not such an interesting subject compared to my first 2 blogs, so I'll still be happy if I end up getting 50 views in 1 year.
Thanks for the support everyone!

And that brings me to my second point. I have a modern texturepack up on PMC. And before I rarely got any views fron it when it got like two weeks old. But then I took another screenshot of the same building I used for thumbnail, but this time with shaders. And now I still get views every day and it even got added to a collection. Unbelievable what a little thumbnail can do.
And for my third point, I have a server up on PMC. And the thing about servers is that you can bump them every 24 hours. So that way i'll get many views everyday even if it's not popular.
Nice observation though. Diamond for you.
Iv actually seen major view/diamond/fav difference in Skins nowdays actually, I guess the reason is too much skins with either same design or reposts or copying someone else work other than in PMC.
Diamond to you, cheers.
Thanks dude!
