Why do so many people care about making more skins??

Why so many skin contests??


Skins is not really what minecraft is about. minecraft is made to test you and see what you can create with your mind, not what you can create on another system to be used in minecraft. Is it just me or are too many people putting an emphasis on making new skins. ive been on minecraft for 2 years now and only really changed my skin twice with a creation of my own hand. I think you should wear only skins you create, but you can share them; however, why do so many people make such a big deal about them?


Out of all the contests on this site why do all of them seem to be skin contests. skins are cool and everything but there not the real idea with minecraft. if your going to have a website about minecraft why not actually make it so you have to use the game to do the contest and not some other program that makes art out of overlarge pixels in human form.


8 out of 9 contests have ended up being skin contests,

the one contest that was a project contest turned out pretty amazing with some pretty cool ideas under a pretty specific guidelines for what to make, however minecraft itself allows you to take anything to the extremes and allows you to create beyond your imagination. I really think we should have another contest involving some sort of project in which we can use minecraft itself to make the theme go over anyones expectations

Yes, there are too many skin contests. I've wanted to be part of a building contest for a LONG time, and I haven't been able to. The Minecraft team I'm part of has created a solution: make contests that are not from the moderators that everyone can join. Team_Awesome has just been created, and we have started a contest that you can view here.

Not agreed. Skins let people give their imagination a chance. Building is something that not everyone can do, and for those who aren't very good builders, they are more likely to be good at skinning, it's just a little fact. Projects are the way we see good builders, but the skin contests really bring out the competitive nature of people, since everyone can just upload crappy stuff. The skin contests are a great way to see who is leading the skinning world, and allows minecraft not to be just about the builds, but allows it to be more individual to the player

I agree with you (Although I personally would embarrass myself in building contests as I'm more of an artist than a craftist xD). I think we should broaden our contest genres to heck, projects and texture packs. That'd make the other players feel less neglected.

what about players who dont really think skins are worth making a contest about. i got on after that project contest and im sad i missed missed out. now i kinda feel neglected with all these stupid skin contests
