Hello, and welcome to a tutorial of how to make a Minecraft skin!
Step 1.) Get your skinning program.
*Note: I am using Paint.NET to make this skin.
Step 2.) Make the outline of your skin.
*I am making a scientist, just for this skin.
Ex.
Step 3.) Make a palette. Include all of the colors you have used to make your base.
Ex.
Step 4.) Where it says 'V' on the color picker, lower that about 10 then add it next to the color on the palette.
Ex.
Step 5.) Do the same as Step 4. Just lower the 'V' 10 more.
Ex.
Step 6.) Start shading! Pick the second color in your palette, then where it says 'Transparency - Alpha', lower it to about 30, then start shading your first layer.
Ex(s).
It should be...
Now when you start shading the first layer...
*Note: I'm doing the hair right now.
You see, the hair is shaded a little, but still looks terrible.
Step 7.) Get the third color on the palette of the color you did first. Then turn the 'Transparency - Alpha' down to around 15, then start shading with that color.
*Note: I am still doing the hair.
Ex(s).
See, it is the third color on the palette and the transparency is down to 15.
Now the hair looks "better" (lol)
Step 8.) Do that with the rest! But take your time and make it look good, not just a bunch of ugly dark shaded spots everywhere, and a bunch of un-shaded spots everywhere.
Ex.
Step 9.) Add a B&W (black and white) palette, then on transparency, turn it down to 2 or 3. Then start shading for a little darker or brighter shading.
Ex(s).
There is the black and white palette. Now when you turn the transparency down to 2, and start shading, it should look like this.
Step 10.) And now the final step. Add shading to the underneath of things. I can't show you the picture because I lost the picture (LOL) But thanks to Stronghold257 for reminding me to add this in xD
*EDIT: I am not the best skinner NOR shader. You can follow these steps if you'd like, but I would choose someone a little bit more experienced. Thanks! ;)
