Hello dear readers, welcome to our second blog, this time regarding important changes throughout the team and our new concepts.

Ol’ Glaciem

Glaciem was our former team, disbanded back in March 2016. Since then, we got through many difficulties and eventually founded the Æonis team.

Glaciem, a team we called home for nearly 3 years, ceased to exist in March 2016. That means it is gone for one and a half year now. For an accordingly long time span Æonis has been around, spiritually continuing the work of Glaciem.
Glaciem was once conceived as a server for everyone, but mainly focussing on building on different projects. Throughout our active time, we had several projects going on, mainly big cities to be completed in an infinite amount of time. And also Æonis got to work on a city, continuing the project started by Glaciem.

Fresh Æonis

Founding something out of nowhere is not plain stupid, but fair enough. We used the ol’ Glaciem remnants to be able to put our new (downscaled) team on a solid base, everything was there, plugins, worlds etc.

As we briefly covered the prerequisites for the actual formation of Æonis, Glaciem was renamed to Æonis in Summer 2016 to represent the changes we went through.

The reason we chose Æonis will be covered in the following:

Until the formation, our fictitious world consisted merely of two nations, one being the utterly powerful Empire de Castaire and more decent Kingdom of Cantoras, being in a constant struggle trying to outmanoeuvre the opponent. That all changed in March 1742, when the Prince de Castaire, later Steve I Stéphane, married the Cantorian Princess Belle. Their marriage was actually driven by love, but also brought political security to the uncertain situation between the great powers.

The remaining members of Glaciem, featured at our profile page, then decided to go one step further and develop a whole world setting. As our (main) continent was called Esradon, that would have been one of the possible options to name the team after, but we finally chose the name for our whole planet, Æonis, to represent us amongst the minecraft community.

It is derived from ancient greek aiōn, meaning either age or eternity. As a planet exists a seemingly endless time for the eyes of human beings, the inhabitants of Æonis named their planet this way.

Since then, we heavily expanded our catalogue of nations and developed further concepts of religion, economy and government for many of them.

As it would be way too much text for this blog, we decided to split up the information for the different continents, nations etc. into a series of blogs reffering to each other.

We’ll try to push one out once a month, but don’t be mad at us if we cannot hold the deadline.

Here we have a list to be expanded the further we’re developing our world setting. Those will be the links to the other blogs then.
