HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR GRADES AT SCHOOL
A Minetorial entry
In this tutorial, I will be linking Minecraft with improving school grades as best I can. If this tutorial is successful, people who follow it will never find themselves banned from the computer to study! So, without further ado, here are my points!
1) Be ambitious & challenge yourself:
It's no good doing what you can already do, for example, if in the UK, you can easily achieve a 5a, don't always do the bare minimum to achieve it. It's like spawning in a world where you can already see Coal, and you have at least 5 cliffs around you. It's no good spending your whole time living off of Coal as your main resource. That's one of the things that are obvious in a Minecraft world, so why not a real one? Why go for something you can do without thinking? Go for the Iron, or even the Redstone. Then go for the Diamond, and finally, the Emerald! Build your way up, challenge, think ahead. Set a goal, and if you reach it, set another one. Don't give up- if something is too challenging, take a break, and attempt it again later!
2) Think ahead & about your aspiration:
What do you really want to achieve when you spawn in Minecraft? Full diamond kit? A huge house? Whatever it may be, you go for it, and what you do will lead up to it in the long run. Well, the same goes for your school life. I will use myself as an example. I want to go to Cambridge University to study Computer Science. Do I expect that to come easily? Not at all. So, I study hard at school and it's fine, right? No. You've got to take matters into your own hands. If you want to be a Doctor, research what paths you will need to take and what subjects you'll need that you are learning in school right now! That's the best motivation, when it plays into what you want. Just like Minecraft. You want to go to the Nether, you think about what you need, and you risk everything you have to do that, maybe just for some Glowstone dust.
3) Do your homework:
I know this sounds so terrible and boring, but listen. Think about it like it was Minecraft. You may, for example, want to create an adventure map, and it's based on an event in History. Look it up, and research it, and then implement it into your world. That, readers, is homework. Or, you could just want to make a cake, and you forgot the recipe. You'll need to research it. When you do it a couple of times, you become smarter- you know about it. That's how we all developed or are developing from noobs to Minecrafters. It's the same, and hopefully this gives you a more positive outlook on homework.
4) Revise:
This one also proves unpopular, but hey, it's important. Before a test, you need to refresh your mind on what you have covered in school. Some people think that this only works as a temporary measure, but if you can drill it into your head, it will be there when you need it, even after the test, so when it comes to another test you can pull out some previous knowledge. How does this compare to Minecraft? Well, how about you make something in Minecraft that will help you remember- it can be anything, a giant set of pixelated study cards, a redstone maths quiz, a mod even, or a texture pack. You play the game and learn where ever you look!
5) Put forward your ideas:
A lot of the time in school I see people sitting quietly, eating off of other people's answers and letting that be the way the lesson goes. That is in no way productive. It's like not reading the rules of a server. It's all cool until it gets to an important moment, for example, someone accusing you of 'Stealing' or 'Griefing' and you don't know what counts as 'Stealing' or 'Griefing' on that server. Just like in the real world. It's fine, all the way until you have to do a test- you haven't actually learned enough! You remember vague things, but you'll never reach your ability.
OR YOU COULD DO something fairly straightforward, like do an architecture project using Minecraft, or make a model of whatever you need to design in a certain subject using Minecraft, though I wouldn't always recommend this because some teachers might not be happy.
I'd STRONGLY suggest you follow these simple steps, it will help you in the long run, for example University/College, and in the short term, for example not getting banned, and being forced to study, which makes the job harder. Thank you for your time.
