Recently, the topic of "minecraft dating" has been floating around. So I thought, "WHY NOT?" So let's dive right in, shall we?
First off, I find "minecraft dating" incredibly creepy. If you're playing online with your real life boyfriend/girlfriend, that's one thing. It's an entirely different thing when you're playing online with people you don't even KNOW, and you "date" them. They could be a creepy 80 year old man or your mom, who knows. Some of the people that "minecraft date" also shift, and I don't think I need to go into detail about what that means to perverted minds. O_O Also, it's weird that you go around declaring your undeniable love for each other. You're not prancing around on a unicorn in a wheat field. Sorry.
Now, there really aren't that many good things about "minecraft dating". Some people go on their computers to escape pain and hardship of their real life, but please know, even if you're miserable, dating someone with a mask of pixels, isn't going to help you, but some people think it does. They think that they can truly be in love, and sometimes they'll be really happy about it. What's cool about this, is that you can put on a skin that's really pretty, and then everyone will think you're pretty, or hot/cute if you're a guy. You don't feel rejected, and you might feel appreciated and loved. (By a collection of pixels...) It's not that awkward for some people, because on the internet, you can be whoever you want to be. To some people, this might mean, themselves! There's no limit to what you can be on the internet. Here are some examples:
- 14 year old teen guy
- 14 year old teen girl
- A magical unicorn
- A sophisticated Harvard graduate
- A PMC moderator
Some of them might not be pretending, but just be aware that they could go anywhere from being a creepy eighty year old guy to being an eight year old trying to act older. Aquatta has known two people that were actually 12, that were pretending to be 14, so they'd be like teenagers, and would seem older, and she's known someone who was 14 who was pretending to be 16.
"Most people that I've met that have lied about their age, were only lying about it by a
couple years. Granted, it's creepy regardless, but at least it's not like a twenty year old
difference." ~Aquatta
Going back to the topic of it not being awkward, sometimes you can just talk about everything and not have to worry about what they are going to say, because well, they are on the internet, what's the worst they could do?
Going on the cons! Om nom nom (Quatta's favorite part >:) ) First, you don't really know them! It's completely fine if it's like your boyfriend/girlfriend in real life, because you know them. But you don't know people online. They could be pretending to be something they're not. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF LIESSSS! You can't be too careful when talking to people on the internet. When they tell you that they love you, and you feel loved, it's probably not love. It's probably just you feeling accepted and appreciated. People could also be catfishing. That's when someone takes photos from someone else, and pretends to be someone. There could be this pretty girl you're friends with online, and she sends you pictures all the time... But she could technically be this old guy.
"Minecraft dating" is awkward, too. Sometimes they start calling you names. Sometimes they take advantage of you. You should try really hard not to date moderators or admins of a server online, or anyone with power, especially if they're mean.
"One time, I logged on a server with a friend, and I had a skin with shorts on and a long
sleeve shirt. It was just a really cute skin, I guess. So there were tons of guys on there
and they kept trying to see me and hang out with me. So one of them was a moderator,
and I tried to be nice to him, because I don't want to get on the bad side of a
moderator... He acted really nice and everything, and then he asked me if I wanted to
see his house. I said sure. He teleported me to his bedroom and I couldn't get out,
because they had protections on doors, so I couldn't open them. I kept running around,
trying to find a way out. I even used /f home to get back to my faction, but every time I
left or moved, he teleported me back to his bed. He was saying tons of perverted stuff,
and teleported some of his other friends to his room, and they all kept shifting me. I
logged off, because I didn't want to deal with it. The next time I logged on, he wasn't
there, so I did /f home. My entire faction was griefed, and he left a sign saying, 'next
time, dont be a b*tch.' " ~ Aquatta
Now for some Do's and Don't's.
If you log on a server hoping to make some friends,
DO: Try to be friendly. DON'T: Try to be flirty.
If someone asks you if you're single,
DO: Say you're taken. DON'T: Say you're single (and ready to mingle)
(Even if you're lying about being taken, it's better to say that you are, for your own safety
and sanity. If you say you're single, they'll take it as an opportunity to get with you.)
If someone repeatedly asks you out on Minecraft,
DO: Firmly say no. DON'T: Say, "LOL You're funny" or "LOL no, it's okay," etc.
If you think you need some advice on how to get people to stop, you can message Aquatta or Sissy. We'll help you to the best of our abilities! Just title the message something similar to "Minecraft Dating Problem", and we'll read it as soon as we can and we'll try to come up with a solution. :)
My StOrY:
When I was first introduced to Minecraft, it confused me a lot. So when I went on servers, I would usually say, "Um, I'm a girl, and I need help." It kind of worked out, because I got a lot stuff, so it helped a lot, although it pretty much changed when I went on a purely survival server.
I was doing what I normally do and I was asked "Hey, do you have a boyfriend." I was a little annoyed by the question because, 1. No, I didn't and 2. It was personal, and 3. I was like 10. However, I didn't really get taken back by the question, and I answered "No, why," because what 10 year old has a boyfriend, and why are you asking me this, like seriously. Realizing the gravity of the situation seconds later, it was a little too late. The dude started jumping up and shifting. Being only 10 years old, I was officially creeped out. I mentally noted never to say no to having a boyfriend on the internet.

SECOND HALF IS AQUATTA'S LOOK AT IT HERE!
NOTE: Aquatta and I made this blog to tell you our thoughts and opinions on it. We are not trying to start a flame war. Both genders do it, we're not trying to be sexist. Thank you!

But its not all bad infact if it wasen't for minecraft i'd still be single :(
I still remember when he asked me out <3 *sigh* the best part about my relationship with
Jared is that we found out we live in the same state!
GAH enough gushing its a memory of the past now as I was saying its not all bad there are some guys out there on the internet who are honest and caring granted there aren't many of them but even online dating can lead someone to happy future.Because when I met Jared in real life I stopped online dating and ended up really happy in the end.The only thing that sucks for me is Broken Ancle=Overly Attached Boyfrined XD
I am a skinner/blogger, and that's that. My story, you know? x3
