I've always wanted to make a bunker for villagers, as well as collect all types of villagers. Join me as I make an underground villager museum, collecting every villager profession from every biome (including jungle and swamp).

This journal also doubles as a tutorial on transporting villagers and getting different biome skins for them.

The Theory
There are several ways to move villagers:
- Use a boat. Put your villager in a boat and drive it to a river connected to the sea, then you should be able to get where you want to go relatively quickly if it's near a river.
- The Nether. Make a tunnel through the nether, or preferably, above the bedrock layer, to move the villagers by boat or minecart.
- Minecarts and rails. Quite straightforward but requires lots of iron (or you can reuse the rails...)

Getting biome themed villagers:
- A newly born villager will either have the biome skin of one of the parents or their current biome. Therefore, with two villagers and a method of transport, you could theoretically get every villager type.
- You could also get three types of villagers at once if you build your breeder between two biomes, while using villagers from a third biome as the parents.

A word about nitwits:
- Since 1.14, there's been a bug where nitwits can't be born (they can only spawn upon world generation or as nitwit zombie villagers). Therefore it is rather difficult, though not impossible, to acquire jungle and swamp nitwits.
- Because zombie villagers can't spawn from zombie dungeon spawners, the best way to aquire zombie nitwits is to make mob spawning platforms for zombies to spawn on. This will of course take a very, very long time.

Other tips:
- Choose villages by the sea, or close to rivers. That way it will be easier to ferry villagers home.
- It is probably a good idea to choose a central location for your museum otherwise it will take a long time to bring them back.
- Do some exploring first, you might find some villages close by.
- Use a map! or two
- Kidnap villagers without a workstation, or break their workstation first, otherwise they will keep trying to pathfind back to their work station even if they're a long way away. If they're too far from their workstation, they can't detect if it's been broken so do remember to break it first before taking a villager away.
- If your village doesn't have a nitwit, you'll have to look for another village to find one.

Plan of Action
1. Get two snowy villagers and make a villager breeder at a boundary between a taiga and jungle
2. Collect 14 of each type: jungle, taiga and snowy
3. Hunt for a taiga nitwit
4. Collect some plains and desert villagers from my own village
5. Collect plains and desert nitwits (I've already found them, just need to move them to the museum)
6. Find savanna villagers and depending on the location and number of them I might need to make another breeder
6. Build a swamp village (fortunately I have a village that's already half in a swamp)
7. Build zombie farms in a jungle and swamp to wait for nitwit zombie villagers to spawn
8. Build the museum itself
9. Move all 105 villagers into the museum

I started out by choosing a location for said museum, deciding on a mesa because of its colour palette, and also because it was equidistant between the various biomes I needed to retrieve villagers from. I also thought I'd make a (relatively) humane area to display the villagers: rows of connected glass rooms with a bed and a workstation each, where they can move around and interact with one another. (Of course I could've just made 1x1 cubby holes for them but....).

First off, since my world had a jungle, taiga and snowy plains close together, I decided to steal two villagers from a snowy village to make a villager breeder on the border of the jungle and taiga. This means I can potentially get three types of villagers from the same breeder.

And we're off!

I've already found a nitwit! I'll take him with me

That's it for now! Stay tuned for more, I'll update this blog as I collect more villagers for my museum/bunker.
