Before I begin let me just say I really enjoy all of my players company. I do. As a server owner I really like having new players and getting to know that my server is out there in the Minecraft world. My server may not be that popular, but like all servers, it attracts nuisances. These nuisances include hackers, ultra-griefers, and spammers.
One of the things I absolutely despise is that players rage quit because they don't get what they want. It just irks me. I've had several players die so much that they just decided to leave and forever quit just because they didn't know how to use the /back command. Hackers try to get on the server and try to do some stuff because they think we're a cheap server without any plugins and organization. Wrong. I built the server with the idea to be a fantastic experience for all of my players, and this includes everyday exemptions from hackers and flamers. We got an amazing anti-hack plugin.
Part of this, and it's what I really hate, is new players asking for their own little cozy spot in the Staff Team. It just freaking irks me. I see some new players join the server and the rest of the Staff and I say "welcome!" and all we get in response is:
"Hey can I get op?"
"Hey guis can i be a mod?"
"I'm an amazing player, can I be Admin?"
"Can I get Mod?"
"Let me be op pls! I prmse to be rlly good!"
Well snap, you guys are the biggest noobs in the entire universe. We're not that new of a server, we don't have millions of spots for Staff members. What just angers me, and makes me hate the player in the future, is that they go completely insane and start cussing and spamming and being a butt because we said no. Just 'cuz you don't get what you want, doesn't mean you need to start chewing out the people that welcomed you and wished the best for your experience in the server. We're friendly staff, we only want to be kind to everyone. However when you treat us with complete disrespect, well, just guess how we're going to treat you.
If I'm in a good mood, I'll actually check if we have a spot for you. I will tell you to e-mail us and fill out an application. But that's if you were nice about it and actually played the server for at least forty-five minutes.
I know it's not like this most of the time. Some new players are just as friendly and say "thanks! Glad to be on!"
Now that right there, that's what I like. First impressions are important. It shows that you're just a plain cool person and you seem really chill. I love awesome players who want to test their luck and have fun in a server.
Next, and last thing, is when players deny their actions. I saw clearly in the console that my anti-hack plugin was giving me details that some players were totally trying to boost. I got details of flying in survival and trying to break blocks at lightning speed with a stone pickaxe. Just to make sure my anti-hack plugin wasn't lying to me, I took a look at what the players were doing. Sure enough the blocks were breaking really fast, but they reappeared because of the anti-hack.
I kindly asked the player "please stop hacking" and he also raged. He started cussing at everyone and dropping some F-Bombs all over the place. Then he left but not without calling my server "stupid and sh#@$y." Just because we don't want random people getting an advantage with hacks doesn't make a server bad.
If you're a server owner, then you know what all of this feels like. It's annoying right? It just irks me.
