Being an original designer and illustrator, I love creating interesting
creatures. In this three part video series, I will teach you the basic
process for one of my designs!

Part 1: Sketching

Here, I did the sketching for the design. My sketches
are hard to read to others, but for me- I get a perfect
idea of what I'm drawing.

If you feel your sketch is too rough, you can always do
a cleaner sketch on top of your rough sketch. I notice
when I do this, I usually get cleaner designs.

When you start making designs, always go out of
your comfort zone. It may seem daunting to do
cute designs if you're used to scary/gorey ones
or vice versa, but expanding your reach opens
more opportunities and is really good practice.

Part 2: Lineart

Getting a style down for your linearts is not
easy. I've changed mine plenty of times, and
still do.

When making your lineart, do a style you're
comfortable with. Don't feel pressured to do
total realism, anime, or any other style. You
don't have to conform your designs.

Once you think you've finished your lineart
leave it and check back later. This way, you
will notice slight imperfections more than if
you just jumped into coloring.
