How to have a successful server (Pop reel!!!)

Hey doods!
Today I am here to inform and guide you on how to have a successful server!
- Advertise
You need to get the word out there!
Ask your friends or people om PMC to help.
Create a server banner
- Server quality
Make sure you pick quality staff
Update your servers for best performance
Beta test for lag and bugs
Make sure to have fun/original games
- Server builds
Get the best builders
Build based off of theme or name of server
Give it a unique style or a one of a kind spawn
- Events
Host contests or races to liven up experience
Encourage and reward voters
Have giveaways for players that come on often
- General
Be freindly to players and greet them with welcomeing
Interact with players
Compliment builds or acievements!
- Art/banners
Give banners/art for your server to spread the word
-Hosting
Make sure you have at least 4GB of RAM for your server!
Check for lag/bugs
Make sure your not getting ripped off if your buying a package
- Games
Don't just have the same old games that all the other server has
Make a new game, or improvise current ones

These are the main ideas of how to run a server. But it seems like all of these are either common sense or make no sense. For example "4GB of ram at least" you can't really give everyone a standard amount of ram. Say that this server only has 12 slots and is totally vanilla (no plugins) you may be able to get by with 1-2 gb. Sorry if this seems like I am just blatantly putting you down, but please take it as constructive criticism. Maybe you could even do a "how to have a successfull server version 2.0" or something.

These are decent tips, but I feel like anyone could do this. I think what really makes a great server is the little things like being active in your community and interracting with the people who use your server.

Staff involvement with the server really is key. Network I managed saw a steady decline in players once the server owner started working. Had no time to work on the server, updates, streams and events were fewer and farther between until it eventually closed.
