These are some great building tips that I have picked up along the way, to help me become a better builder.

-Try your best, never give up on a project.
-Bigger is better.
-Little details make a lot of difference.
-Try using a variety of blocks in your builds.
-Try building in different styles.
-Find a style that suits you.
-Always try to come up with your own new ideas.
-Don't be afraid to try new things.
-Don't be afraid to ask others on their opinion.
-Always put in as much effort as possible.
-Take inspiration from other builds but dont copy.
-Recreations of real life builds are awesome.
-Try to build a variety of projects: Houses, Boats, Planes, Mansions, Towers, Churches, Towns, Trees, Temples....
-Try using slabs and stairs in your projects.
-Its the little details that make a huge difference.
-Don't over crowd your projects.
-Sometimes plain is beautiful.
-Try to improve on your builds by improving the scenery. (Houses aren't as good on a plain flatland)
-Don't over complicate your builds either.

Hope these help!

I agree very much so with what rajkkor said blow, I also however think you forgot to mention one kidna big thing. When it comes to being "good" people always always forget to mention that it doesnt just come to you. You have to do this little thing called "PRACTICE". lynchinc notux and all those builders we deem as "the greats" weren't as good as they are right from the get go. only once you have practiced to the point where you are on the brink of going crazy because the thing(s) you do seem so simple its just like another mondane task like riding a bike or even as simple as walking, Then and ONLY then will one be great.

just gonna comment a bit :P note that this is my opinion entirely

"-Bigger is better."

not neceserarly, today with WorldEdit everyone can build big, and tbh I find it a skill to make something small looking good, you have a minimum ammount of space to work on and mostly people just tend to smack slabs and stairs all over it and then it doesn't look good from afar, so you need to find a balance in between.

"-Try using a variety of blocks in your build"
ofc is good :D but color matching is more important, I sometimes come accross builds that looks like rainbow castles but isn't eye pleasing, a eye pleasing build is what everyone strives for, yet not many can achieve it, and detail and the right color scheme goes hand in hand here, which is also something to think of, so no rainbow castles :P unless it's a unicorn castle, then it could work :P.

"-Recreations of real life builds are awesome."
this is awesome as well, but I'd rather see something that doesn't exist than something that does, makes you look more creative in my opinion, ofc you can take inspiration from real life and use that in your build, so for instance make the neuschwanstein castle being grasped by giant hands, and a forest around it.

"-Try to build a variety of projects: Houses, Boats, Planes, Mansions, Towers, Churches, Towns, Trees, Temples.... "
ofc this is also very important which is something everyone should do, it teaches you basic organics as well as different types of architecture, heck you can even modify these after a while you get really good at it, like making a city on the boat with a castle as the captains cabin and a cathedral in the front. or why not a giant tree consuming a nearby village with it's roots.

"-Try using slabs and stairs in your projects. "
now here's something which alot of builders missunderstand. I daily see houses and castles full of slabs and stairs and fences that doesn't make sense, it turns into a clusterfuck, I see slabs as complimentary blocks that should be used in harmony with the full blocks to bypass the blockyness, most people just tend to smack them without thinking about what they are doing, slabs and stairs aren't supposed to be used like that. they are supposed to help manipulate the build into taking certain(yet blocky) shapes that resemble real life shapes. sorry for the little rant there :P but yet again, just my opinion.

"-Sometimes plain is beautiful. "
Hell yeah! :D as I mentioned in the previous note sometimes plaines combined with minor details(at some parts) makes the build look better than other :) house has plain parts, alot, yet looks good.

"-Don't over complicate your builds either. "
I both agree and disagree on this one. this can be a bad thing if you aren't that good with execution, let's say you want to make a baroque tower, now the, style is quite complex and very hard to nail, I think this question could be rephrased like this instead. "don't over complicate things you don't know how to do" start of simple, my first spacethemed build wasn't very complex, basic building with windows, and then I moved onto making a spacecraft full with guns, I wanted to make that spacecraft before, but I didn't know how to do it, so I decided to test my limits and what I was capable off. I made several weapons before I felt ready to make the spacecraft. and when I did, it turned out quite well: Link

yet again this was my own personal opinion on this :) you could also have given build examples with every subject you brought up in this article :) cheers!

You say that you should ask what others think of your projects, so what do you think of mine?  Great tips by the way!

It's the best part of PMC, seeing what others think of the things that you build :D
