Hey all, I recently played a game that you can play on your device for $0.99! If you were lucky enough to get it during the week when it was the Free App of the Week, then you would be able to play it for free, just like me! In this blog, I'll be telling you guys about the app and what I thought about it, and I'll be sure to let you know when the spoilers are coming. With that in mind, let's get right into it! :)

Oh yeah, by the way, this game can be played on most devices. I played on my iPhone, I know for sure that it is able to be played on the Apple Watch, and I do believe Android phones are also compatible.

SPOILER-FREE CONTENT
Let me just start off this review by saying that the way this game is set up when you play for the first time is simply amazing. Now, this is a text-based game, and while some of you may dislike text-based games (sort of like choose-your-own-adventure games), this one was a damn good one to play. I'm not a huge fan of text-based games myself, but this was amazing! The storyline (which I while go deeper into later) was immersive and the challenges that you were put through were great.

Additionally, the way the game was set up was incredible -- hats off to whoever came up with the idea to do this. While you lead your character along and guide them through numerous sets of dialogue, challenges, and obstacles (and lets not forget the quite amusing in-between moments!), the game pauses and takes a break as the main character, Taylor, does what he needs to do. This was, in my opinion, very well executed, especially because it makes the player feel like the entire situation is unfolding as they play it ... as if they are a part of the future, and that they are essentially the lifeline that Taylor is holding on to.

Furthermore, the soundtrack of the game was well selected, and is fitting for many of the situations. I feel that it has an especially calming effect, even during the toughest situations. Then again, I feel that it also has an eerie effect, especially weirder things start to happen as you advance through the game.

However, even with this music and the fantastic storyline, there were a few problems that I experienced. Actually, just one problem (which I heard others talk about before, as well) -- the player doesn't take initiative for themselves. Humans have the ability to make their own decisions, and some parts of the game were a bit rough when you think about the plot and how Taylor should be making his own decisions based on the situation, without help from the player.

Wrapping up this spoiler-free section of the blog, I'd like to say that I would recommend that you go ahead and download the app. If you'd like to see the app store page, go ahead and click here

SPOILERS! CLICKING HERE MAY SPOIL THE APP FOR YOU!
Alright, again, if you have been paying no attention to what I just said, let me spell it out loud and clear for you.

View what is below this text at your own risk! Make sure to download and play the app before you read this if you don't want to be spoiled! Seriously! >.>

Okay, so if you're reading this, you either don't care at all if you get spoiled or you played the app already. Fair enough.

Let's start off with the storyline, or at least the one path that I chose for myself so far. I managed to beat the game on the first try over the course of 3 days (with fast mode turned off, meaning that everything was happening in real-time, whether I was with friends or at school, or enjoying some free time), which was pretty impressive, especially after seeing how many tries it took other players for them to get Taylor to survive. I will shortly sum up what happened as I dove into the game below.

The story starts off like so: An American astronaut begins to message you, and you have a two choices on how to respond. As you venture down these choices, you find out the astronaut's background. Basically, Taylor, the main character as mentioned before, was in space, of course. Taylor crash lands onto the moon of a star, Tau Ceti. He believes he is the sole survivor after he crash lands from an escape pod that was jettisoned from the crashed ship from where he came, the Varia. This ship will later become a landmark for Taylor in his attempt to leave the moon.

After this bit of dialogue, you can choose to go toward the peak of a mountain in the distance, or head towards the Varia and look for survivors and supplies. During my playthrough, I decided to go ahead and go to the Varia. Once there, you are able to look for scrap and see if there are any survivors (there are none). After futily attemting to look for survivors and extra supplies, the night is coming quite rapidly. You are faced with the decision to either sleep in the ship with a roof over your head but the sides exposed, as the ship broke apart upon entry, or you can go sleep near the engines, which are still hot with radiation.

This option mentioned above will be my main focus point, as it is one of the first parts of the game and it is a prime example for following predicaments later in the plot.

From what I have read, if you sleep inside the ship, you will freeze to death, as Tau Ceti's moon has a very harsh environment. However, the engine bay is completely warm, and even though you may be exposed to about 250 rads as you sleep, you'll be nice and toasty. This option proved to be the correct choice, and though radiation poisoning was a possibility, it was better than freezing to death.

But what about the folks who chose to stay in the ship and freeze to death? A lot of people were upset about the fact that Taylor couldn't just end up moving to the engines, regardless of your decision. A regular human being, when cold, would try to find some warmth; and in this case, Taylor, when freezing to death, should be able to move himself and warm himself up by the engines, regardless of the player's decision. While this may get rid of the feeling that you are in control, I personally thought that this would further improve the gameplay.

[probably going to expand more on the plot when I have more time...]

That's about all I have to say for now, I may or may not add on to this in the future. Tell me down below in the comments, please! (For those of you who came here for some help later in the plot, sorry about that. Play for yourselves and risk it!)

Alright, wrapping up the ENTIRE blog now, I would recommend that you play this app. I would definitely suggest this to my friends (which I have done already) and encourage you that you take a chance to experience this awesome game. If I were to rate it on a scale of 1-10, I would rate it a solid 9/10 for its immersive quality and plot, which really dragged me into playing the game

Hope you all enjoyed this unorthodox thing for me to do! If you want to see more of these game reviews, I have quite a few games that I've been playing recently other than Minecraft (on both my computer and on my devices), so if you want to see more please be sure to leave a diamond and encourage me to make more!

Until that next review, though, I hope you all have a nice day, afternoon, night, or whatever it might be ... whether you're on Earth, the moon of Tau Ceti, or somewhere in a galaxy, far, far away. ;)
