Welcome I am BobTheGodly, but you can just call me your new lord and master. What? too much, fine just BobTheGodly then. I am going to inform you about the benefits of using a web hosting site with your regular submissions.

Lets start of with what a web hosting site does. The site stores and hosts a site of your design for any subject you could possibly want to put on the world wide web also known as the modern day encyclopedia. Most sites offer some services for free such as the site itself and some basic tools and templates to get you started. That means you don't need to gather donations to keep the site running.

Lets move onto how you are going to use this new resource. Your main goal is to put information about your submissions in a location that is easier to get to, more organized than on your normal post, and best of all less labor than packaging a .txt file or a pdf with your submission.

There are a multitude of benefits you can reap from maintaining your own site rather than just working on PMC. This will range from being able to draw attention to more of your work as well as being able to display advertisement and gain revenue, but I will get back to that later.

MODS:
When you create a mod or program you will usually be asked to provide the recipes and functions of each item. Your site can not only host this information, but it can also be used as an alternate download location and allow you to keep players posted on what is going to be included in future updates.

TexturePacks:
When making a texturepack the site could readily be used to show which textures are currently in the making and serve as an aforementioned alternate download location. Since texturepacks are pretty straight-forward the site's main purpose would be to reveal any hidden secrets or references viewers may not catch otherwise.

Servers:
Servers are possibly the best benefactor of a website since many servers rely on donations to stay afloat and a website would provide an optimal location to host donations. A website for a server may include a list of staff or to serve as an exhibit to the server's creations.

Projects:
Let's face it your projects could use a nice organized space to display themselves. A little description and some exclusive information could help your projects grow a lot.

Blogs:
This may be something as simple as tutorials or a journal keeping track of your life events but blogging on your website gives you more freedom than blogging on PMC since you have less restrictions on subjects.

Money:
A website you build can host advertisements that when clicked will gain you revenue for your work. This means less time working and more time creating. This leads to bigger more detailed submissions which benefits minecraft as a whole. Don't be fooled however, there won't be any overnight success and it will be a lot of work before anything starts paying off but with no investment of finances there is virtually no risk in trying for yourself.

Last but not least is you have to find a way to get viewers. Good keywords help but putting your website link on your submissions will prove to be a quick effective method of getting more views. As an added bonus you can even use adf.ly to gain revenue from that link. (being level 20 of course). Viewers need a reason to go to the site not just an opportunity to be sure to be somewhat exclusive with what you put up, make sure the information on your site is not available to the viewers anywhere else that way they need to go there. Another tactic is to buddy up with other submitters and share links to each others sites that way your viewers also become theirs and theirs also become yours.

If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comments below I will do my best to answer them all as best as possible.
