Lets start off with the definition of a tutorial. (You need to know what something is to make it) Here it is: "a system of instruction containing exercises, information, etc., as in a training manual or computer program, for individual self-study" Wich brings me to my first point. Whenever posting information providing a link to where you got that information is not only helpful it is required on some sites.

Secondly, as the saying goes 1 picture is worth a thousand words. Well if you do some math a 5 minute video at 30fps is worth 9,000 words. Though this seams silly it is true. Lets say you wanted to teach someone how to brew potions. You could wright for hours about all the different combinations and effects. Though that may sound appealing to some of you almost no one enjoys reading over watching a video or even reading a graph. Minecraft wiki does a particularly good job at using charts and graphs to display information. But in the end a video is probably the best media to get information out.

There is nothing like a hands on experience. If you want to teach something in a video or even through text provide a world save for people to follow along in. Paulsoaresjr does this well in his survive and thrive series.

When making a tutorial (Videos especially) make sure you know what you are talking about. If it is something more complicated having a rough script or even just bullet points can turn a decent tutorial into a very helpful one. This isn't as important when you are using text to teach others as you can look up everything before posting.

Post examples! Don't just tell people what to do post an example of the job done correctly.

Last but not least, keep it short and to the point. There is no need for a tutorial on how to craft a diamond sword to go on for 10 minutes. We also dont need to know about how your cat is making strange noises as you record.

Well that is about all the help I can offer. If you did learn something I hope you eventually teach me something with your (now professional) tutorials. If you feel like you have something to add feel free to post it below. Thank you.
