I hope you get to see many butterflies this year! I don't have many encounters like this. The most memorable encounter was when I was in Pennsylvania visiting my big brother, I was around 8 yrs old at the time, and while we were at a spring getting jugs filled with water, I wandered off into a shallow part of the woods, and saw a clearing with what seemed like hundreds (in reality it probably was between 10-15) iridescent black butterflies drinking from a large mud puddle. When they fluttered up off the ground they did so under this beam of evening light that cracked through the forest canopy. It was sublime and surreal. Like something from a Miyazaki film.
