The Nemesian Socialist Republic, better known as East Nemesia, is a small island nation (approx. 9.5 km x 10 km) set in the Caribbean Sea, currently under protection from Cuba, another socialist but stronger nation. Its neighbouring territory, West Nemesia, is still under colonial rule from the Eastern Kingdom, an empire run by a very close friend of mine.

HISTORY:
After defeating enemy tribes in 1203, the Matuli Empire rose to power, and took control of the island. Its palace was built in the southern half of present-day district of Matulia. Besides for a few collapsed towers from the invasion of the Eastern Kingdom, it is kept in relatively good condition and still stands.

The island was colonised by the Eastern Kingdom in 1312. In 1856, the Republican Party was set up, and worked for the independence of the island. In 1864, the First Nemesian War of Independence broke out. It ended with the failure of the Republicans. In 1875, the Second Nemesian War of Independence broke out. This time, with the support of the United States, 60% of the island was freed before an armistice was signed. The Eastern Kingdom left East Nemesia and continued rule over West Nemesia until today. East Nemesia was then under rule by the Republic of Nemesia.

In 1962, the Communist Party was set up. The Nemesian Civil War then broke out in 1973, where the Communists fought the Republicans. That time, the Soviet Union and the United States were in a state of Cold War. Therefore, the Communists had the support of the Soviets while the Republicans were backed by the United States. However, much like the Vietnam War, the Americans were discontented with their interference. Therefore, the United States retreated. With the Republicans now powerless against two parties, the Civil War ended in 1974 with the victory of the Communists and the Nemesian Socialist Republic was set up. It was under asylum of the Soviet Union.

In 1978, a reform changed the NSR. It switched from a militaristic, stringent and closed island nation to a more open and free nation, going the way China went. Planned economy switched to a market economy, allowing trade from almost all nations. Its banks went international, leading to a slight detente in Nemeso-American relations.

In 1991, the Soviet Union ended, and East Nemesia had to turn to Cuba for protection from the United States. However, extreme nationalists in East Nemesia still have ambitions to annex West Nemesia as well, which is a major obstacle in friendly relationships with the Eastern Kingdom.
