The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is a long range bomber used by the United States military since the 1950's, and still used today wherever needed, in countries such Iraq, and most recently having done a flyby near North Korea, where it took part in joint military drills with the South Korean military.
Along with is modern uses, it has seen action world wide in history, specifically in the Cold War, Vietnam War (which sprouted from the aggressions of the Cold War), and the Gulf War.
The B-52 was developed as a long-range bomber for the US airforce, and was, and is still, capable of holding a payload of 70,000 pounds worth of weapons, and is Nuclear Capable. The B-52 Stratofortress are designed with 8 Pratt & Whitney TF33s, capable of 17,000 lb of force, but these engines have been replaced over time, with different, more advanced engines.
There are over 744 B-52s, and the most advanced models (B-52H, developed in 1998) cost approximately $53 Million.
