    I am not a scientist....

I try to believe in as few things as possible. Belief requires subjectivity as opposed to objectivity, belief requires faith and conviction despite a lack of evidence. Now of course, our very perception of reality is a premise that requires belief but I will accept that because I would be unable to operate if I was constantly questioning if my reality is in fact real.

But on to the "god" issue. As there is not sufficient evidence (well, non whatsoever actually) to prove a divine being's existence, I do not put faith in one.

I think of it this way: Would an argument for the existence of God hold up in a court room. There is absolutely no evidence, so no, it would not.

Cars. Computers. Skis. Video games. Life. Everything is better when you geek about it.

From what I saw that is the process. Now I am not denying that it takes some time to get used to how world machine functions, but at the end of the day, the terrain is being made for you. All you do use functions to define how (generally) you want the terrain to look like.

Maybe the world machine you are using is different form the one I know or maybe I simply don't know it well enough, but when I played with it I found that all you had to do was essentially connect a string of boxes, each of which represented some form of terrain generation or modification such as terracing, erosion methods, etc. Then, you, quite literally, hit a button and the world is created for you. That is why I dislike worldmachine's use, I do see it as computer generated terrain. If I am wrong than let me know, but when I dabbled in the demo version it really did seem that easy.

If you are going to go cheap make sure to get a nice case, mobo, and psu so that you can max the upgrade potential. That is what I did. By now I have spent close to 2000 on my setup (though 350 was for monitor)

    FX 8350
    Sapphire 7970 Ghz Edition x 2
    16gb 2133mhz
    2tb hdd
    800 watt psu

I forget the rest of the specs (I'm on my laptop) but I can -snip- most games.
I also upgraded over the course of a few years. By what you can now, but make sure you can improve it later without replacing every component.
