So I got another Sgian Dubh (Scottish boot knife) recently- (as shown in a recent wall post)

But I still haven't been able to decide which one to actually use for general use-

So I'll show 'em both to you and ya'll can decide-


Top : New Sgian Dubh

Bottom : Old Sgian Dubh

Old Sgian Dubh Pros : -Has my family crest -I've had it for longer -Lighter Cons : -Smaller -Not so great control -Thinner steel -Blade is slightly stained Measurements : -Length is about 7 inches -Width is about 1 inch -Thickness is about 1/4 inch

New Sgian Dubh Pros : -Better quality -Full metal handle design -Better balance -Better control -Larger Cons : -No special connection to my Clan -Bulkier -Not as sharp, but I can easily sharpen it Measurements : -Length is about 9 inches -Width is about 1-1 1/4 inch -Thickness is about 1/2-1 inch

This is what the family crest is for my clan (the MacNaughtons), which is placed on the old, smaller Sgian Dubh and is made of pewter




These are what the gems on the pommel of each look like (they're glass not actual gem)

Left : Old Sgian Dubh

Right : New Sgian Dubh
