Who were the Iceologers? They were Illagers right? They don’t exist anymore, but they used to, as evident in the game Minecraft Dungeons, which we know takes place in the past on the lore timeline. Yes, I am aware that they COULD HAVE existed, but they don’t. A green man rigged the 2019 mob vote.

Well no… They are Illagers as in the same species, but they seem to be a different group, or a different clan, one that lives on a frozen island, one which the player gets to visit in the Creeping Winter DLC of the game. These are the Illvillagers, and they seem to be rebels who used to be part of the Illager group/clan, but got independence from the main clan. They seem to only be newly formed, as they still use similar symbols to the Illagers, but they also have paintings of the Arch-Illager with “FOE” and “WEAK” written on them in Neo-Galactic (Illager language)

Graffti on a painting of the Arch-Illager.

So what we have here is a lost settlement that rebelled against the Illager régime, that only just rebelled recently and is possibly still fighting for independence. If the Illagers are the English, than picture these guys as the United States of America.

But why is any of this important? Well it gives us a new clan to put down on the list; Illvillagers. But it is a bit deeper than that. They also have a peculiar religious practice. Instead of using souls like Evokers do, they worship them. I have talked before on the topic of souls and soul magic, so please read those blogs. But these people aren’t like Illagers who manipulate souls. These Illvillagers worship them led by the evil Wretched Wraith. We know Wraiths to be the physical manifestation of souls, and these people worship them as if they were gods of goddesses.

They never use Evocation magic, with Evokers not spawning even once in the entire DLC. Instead they opt for illusionist magic, with Illusionist mobs spawning in two out of three levels. They hold the souls in higher regard, and what is neat is how this cold and icy place contrasts the Hellish Nether, where souls go to suffer…

Anyway, that is all for today, keep on LOOOOORING and I’ll s’ya nexttime!!
