This short story comprises the after-events of "Into the Frozen Hearts", putting an emphasis on Ingefara's thoughts about Cassandra and the reasons for appearing of certain characters in subsequent chapters.

Another winter awaits. Another Christmas has come.
Not chilly anymore, as Arctic Raiders shamefully returned to their wasteland after defeat.
The Labyrinth once again fell in silence, ridden of Persephone and her ancient crystal lord.
And so Cassandra and his lovely Sjaris left the Christmas Island, having done what they were supposed to do: obtaining the Crystal.
Meanwhile, Ingefara (the guide for Cassandra), pondered inside the mine. Even though there's a merrier Christmas feast somewhere, he couldn't attend it for some reason.
He helped the Christmas Village drive these invaders back for a more prosperous, happier Christmas.
He also took care of Cassandra's pet Sjaris during his entrance into the Labyrinth, having knowledge of his true origins and that of Cassandra.
The populace praised him, and even the Mayor agreed to let him stay as long as he could.
But for what?
For once, he felt sorrow inside my hearts. He saw the reality, yet nothing could ease his mind.
- Cassandra... You surely have your own matters in hand, but perhaps you're right. No reason to stay secluded like this.

An hour later...
Commander Hawking opened the door without any explanation, having to gather whatever valuable he can find in the mine.
- Hawking? Why are those bags here? Shouldn't you be in your post at the meantime?
He took the sword, a heirloom from his family. After a while, it's now polished and ready to bring retribution to any evil.
- To be honest, Ingefara. I don't accept this idea to leave this homeland, either. But he needs all help he can get.
He certainly never heard Cassandra really needs aid that much. However, Ingefara tried to comfort, but to no avail:
- Isn't that what his close friends are really doing right now?
- He might not ask me to join him, but I feel a debt not being paid.
Ingefara nods.
- Then we part ways. Farewell. If you want, you can go with me as well. Just... don't make him too agitated.
In a matter of time, Hawking left. Ingefara would have to think carefully about his choice...
