Invictus is a high definition 64x graphics replacement for Minecraft with an emphasis on clean artwork and minimal detail. The artwork is a continuation of Soartex, a texture pack by Soar49. Invictus refines many of the elements of Soartex and adds thousands of textures.
About
The Invictus continuation is by Shoeboxam and Goldbattle!
Shoeboxam: I maintained and updated Soartex Fanver with the great help of the Fanver community for its initial two years. In August 2013 I organized my repertoire of content I made for Fanver in a separate pack and began texturing the missing gaps with GoldBattle to create Invictus. In December I resigned from my position in Fanver in order to focus on this project. I tend to make textures, look back at them a week later and decide to remake them. If there is a texture you don't like, feel free to give a comment.
Goldbattle: He has been the web developer for Fanver and has played a big role in building up the Soartex Fanver mod support. He always gives himself a hard time about his textures, but I know better. He created the Soartex "Mod Patcher," a lightweight Java program that downloads and installs texture patches for mods. Gold also created a customizer, got me comfortable with Github and even built our website from scratch. He's made scripts, programs, launchers, and more. I continually learn new things from him, he's just fantastic.
FAQ
Am I allowed to redistribute this pack?
We currently do not allow public redistribution, see our license for more details. http://invictus-hd.com/about
Do you have the right to create a texture pack with Soar49's textures?
Yes, Soartex is in the public domain:
Soar49 said:
"You mix soartex, can create a continuation and can distribute.
And, a customizer is continued and it can release to the public freely."
Many textures look similar or appear to be from the Fanver continuation. Are these textures stolen?
All graphics added by Invictus were created by either Shoeboxam and GoldBattle. When I wrote the Soartex Fanver license, it includes this line:
Fanver License said:
"The original artist of any texture may reuse their own texture elsewhere"
This permits us to reuse our own repertoire of content we created for Fanver in Invictus instead.
There are textures missing, this pack is not complete.
We know this pack is not complete. We are currently in beta. We are always creating more textures! Quality, not quantity.
Do I need to use Optifine or MCPatcher?
The pack can be played without the two, but we HIGHLY recommend using them. So many of the amazing features including ctm, custom skies, and special effects rely on you having these add-ons installed.
This is similar to Soartex Fanver, what makes you different?
Invictus has a focus on aliasing reduction and reducing tile patterning. Much of the world-gen and many of the blocks in the original pack have been updated with Repeat CTM or remade to accomplish this. This includes stone, grass and gravel, for example. Download the pack and see!
Where can I get updates on what is happening with the pack?
We have a running change log of what edits are applied to the pack here: http://invictus-hd.com/revisions/vanilla
Also if you sign up for an account on our website here you can receive instant email updates on pack releases.

Why is there 3d tree leaves
2. Further similarities are from my extensive contributions to Fanver
3. I created this continuation because I have my own style
Sorry for the late response, I was busy texturing. ;)
I hope this clears things up!
You got it 100% right that Soartex Fanver is a community-made pack however some members of said community worked directly with Soar back in the old days.
The reason why I say it's not a re-creation it's because we did not re-create the textures from scratch. We had permission from Soar to continue his work, and use his textures, as a Fan Version (Fanver).
Me and Goldbattle have rejoined the Soartex staff and we are working with Valsis and Artdude on redesigning the Soartex website to be a hybrid of Fanver and Invictus. Having Fanver and Invictus on the same download page should end these accusations of copying. I have made clarifications to the Soartex.net license page to make it clear that Soar49's original work really is public domain and may be used by anyone. I have also clarified Fanver's "official" status with Valsis.
Honestly, I'm the most surprised at just how militant people are to other continuations. This has been heavily documented to be legitimate- I have a public change tracker with an extensive history, explicit clarification from the Fanver account that the continuation is legitimate, proof of my identity as Shoeboxam (which allows me to reuse my own contributions to Fanver) and links back to Soar49's original thread with his release to public domain.
Anyways, thank you for the support, and for checking the original thread- it makes a huge difference.
