The problem with that is there's only 2 shooting items in minecraft (bow and crossbow) so either you have to rename it (which requires optifine) or you apply the textures to other items hope i helped!

Yes, you can. To do this, you need to go to the folder assets - > minecraft -> models -> items, there will be a file model named "iron_horse_armor" this is the model of the gun, you can either move the model to the mod by renaming it (there are no animations, the gun will be static), or rename it to the desired item from the list of Minecraft IDS
