In the spirit of "We'll learn together even if it's just why the element inspired your skin."
My entry was inspired by radio frequency, quartz crystals and my ignorant question of "is quartz an element on the periodic table?" because if there's any subject I'm not well-informed on, it's chemistry.
But thanks to my silly question I learned that:
A crystal oscillator is an electronic circuit that uses the mechanical resonance of a vibrating crystal to generate a sinusoidal electronic signal at a very precise frequency. By 1926, quartz crystals were used to control the frequency of AM radio broadcast transmitters and were widely used by amateur radio operators.
Quartz is made of the two most abundant chemical elements on Earth: oxygen and silicon.
silicon
/ˈsɪlɪk(ə)n/
noun
symbol: Si
The chemical element of atomic number 14, a non-metal with semiconducting properties, used in making electronic circuits. Pure silicon exists in a shiny dark grey crystalline form and as an amorphous powder.
I tried to represent oxygen in the light blue color and with cloudy puffs, and silicon by trying to replicate the texture of the photo above. The radio frequency inspiration is represented in the antennas on the side of the character's head. 🤖
