semaphorism
n. a conversational hint that you have something personal to say on the subject but don’t go any further—an emphatic nod, a half-told anecdote, an enigmatic ‘I know the feeling'—which you place into conversations like those little flags that warn diggers of something buried underground: maybe a cable that secretly powers your house, maybe a fiberoptic link to some foreign country.
This is my entry for eggpuff's contest "Heart on Your Sleeve"<click to go to the thread! The text below is kinda weird and a thankyou I guess x3.
I joined this site a little over a year and a half ago. I joined in a hard time for me, struggling to understand myself and suffering from a lot of stress due to it.
The left side of the skin is that; me before. Hiding my body, hiding my face and avoiding people as much as I could. I was ashamed of my body and myself, all while not knowing what to do or what I was.
The right side is me now. In roughly 2 years (most of which was spent on this site) I've managed to grow a lot and honestly I've bettered myself a lot. I'm comfortable with my body and don't feel as if I have to hide my arms and legs. I've grown to be more creative and more social (with the recent help of the amazing skinnertopia community for welcoming me)
So as I'm stuck inside and nearing my birthday, I'm proud to say that this community has helped me grow and genuinely understand myself better. I still have a long way to go, if anything this contest is kinda ironic for someone who struggles with emotions to join, but nevertheless I just wanted to say thank you for all the love and support I've had here.
Once again thank you so much for all the good memories I've been able to have, and for the growth we've had together <3
