I've always felt that GORT was an amazing creature. Humanity didn't stand a chance! But some little shit had to trick an alien into thinking humanity could be better.

I know it sounds dark, but I would have had more respect for that movie if the point was: "We had the choice to be better, but we chose not too."

Showing that, yes, humanity could better itself, but we let our dark overpower our light. Kind of a warning for the future.
