Straight to the point
It was storming. Heavy rain soaked Remira's cotton jacket. It didn't postpone the race. A voice spoke, so loud, so clear, it was ringing. "On your marks. Get set," BANG. A pistol fired "GO GO GO!" Remira ran, ran as fast as she possibly could. She was in the lead, the red ribbon was only so close. Aisha was close behind. Time slowed down. Suddenly, she was on a podium. She could already predict the announcers words. "AND OUR RUNNER UP IS; REMIRA GOMEZ!" the words rang in her head. "AND OUR RUNNER UP IS, And our runner up is, and our runner up is....." It haunted her.
The next race came. It was storming. It was like an omen. It suddenly ended. The words rang again. "AND OUR RUNNER UP IS; R-" Remira couldn't bear to listen to the words. She ran off. At home, she dried off, thinking. She had nightmares that night. It was the next day within a matter of seconds. Storm, once more. Once again, the red line of fate, once again, Aisha beating her to it. Or so Remira thought. Remira, with the little energy she had left, fueled the fire put out by the rain. Time slowed. Remira blacked out.
She was standing on a podium. "FIRST PLACE, REMIRA GOMEZ!" She was handed a cold trophy, it felt heavy on her hands, glimmering gold. The sun appeared from the clouds. She saw on her trophy, a rainbow reflected. A spectrum of colors congratulated her.
