This is a makeover of an older skin I made: Colette Minecraft Skin (planetminecraft.com)

Meet Colette! She's a skypainter that maintains giant beacon machines which change the atmosphere's colors and weather.

Colette grew up in a busy household in Cetiston, a bustling city home to some of the most brilliant inventors in the world. Her father was an apprentice of one such inventor, often resulting in her being alone with her mother and needing to take charge of much of the house maintenence. She swiftly learned to take care of herself and this proficiency carried over to school and work. She excelled in the sciences at school, and being an avid fan of particle physics (especially light and atmospheric effects), she wanted to become one of the pioneers of one of her father's mentor's inventions: the skybeacon. This hulking mechanical machine was able to cast pillars of light to the edges of the sky and transform the entire atmosphere around it in minutes.

For someone in an age of the internet, and despite knowing her way around it, Colette never took much interest in having an internet presence or using social media. She was more into books and TV shows/movies, but one day she found herself scrolling through some arbitrary tags on a social media platform she forgot she had an account on. That's where she found someone else's invention: a pair of personal mechanical wings, able to propel the user on their own and glide through the air. She was immediately intruiged, and decided to message the person about details before she headed off for the day.

She returned to find one of the most humble and sweet people she'd seen online respond to her, giving her details that she could barely comprehend and thanking her. The girl's name was Chloe, as the continued conversation would reveal. Colette had never been treated with such respect and courtesy as this interaction online, and she found Chloe's mannerisms and attitude charming; they kept in close contact from here on.

One day in the early summer, while she was reading, Colette recieved a proposition from her new friend: She should come stay with Chloe for a week in her home in Attalot, a small town located decently far away but within road trip distance. She took the day to consider it, and couldn't think of any reason not to - and despite travelling for friends being a new experience, she figured there was potential to gain from going. Her father was cautious, but ultimately couldn't give her a good reason to stay, even though he didn't particularly like it. The trip took place later in the summer, and it flew by. She got to see Chloe's exceptional talent for building things, and her gorgeous well-kept garden. Another trip was scheduled for next spring; she was happy to see Chloe so excited for it. When that trip rolled around, right at the end when she was heading out of the door, she realized that Chloe had feelings for her.

This was a shock to Colette, someone who had never even given credence to the idea of having a relationship, and yet... It felt right, with Chloe. She decided to change up her plans for the next few months and visit her more frequently. Eventually her father came to terms with their friendship, and soon, relationship. What he wasn't expecting was for Colette to reveal her plan of staying with Chloe full-time the next year. She had proposed to Chloe, and she was ready to take her next step in life, starting a business as Chloe's secretary and using her remaining time to be a part-time skypainter, bringing the beacons to Attalot.

Exit Shock - a short story
"This has been the highlight of my entire year, Colette, you should know."
Chloe looked sheepishly at her with a grin she couldn't quite hide. "Flying with you is so much fun. I wish I could've gotten you to stay here sooner."
A warm, unfiltered smile took over Colette's face. "It is almost inhuman how kind and hospitable you are, you know. I would never get treatment like this back home! Is this how everyone out here is? I would be almost afraid to take you into the city if these are your standards..." At some points it felt to her completely unreasonable just how nice Chloe had been to her, but it was easily discernable as genuine. This is the second visit that Chloe had arranged for Colette to stay at her lodge, and it was still jarring compared to the mild discontent and uninterested attitude that a lot of city dwellers back at home had.
Chloe shuffled around a bit, hiding her hands behind her back. "I mean... I wouldn't be opposed to seeing your place..."
"Oh, it's not much of a spectacle. You've got an entire fricking workshop out here under your own secretive cove. I've got a desk in a comparatively small apartment highrise." Colette didn't pay too much mind to the thought. She went back to packing her bags for the return trip, when she noticed Chloe reaching for the wings she built in the corner of her eye. "You're not suggesting I take your wings too, are you?"
Chloe let on a slightly perplexed look. "My wings? Dude, these are yours... We didn't design them together last time just for me..."
The hint of surprise that Chloe showed was immediately one-upped by Colette's bewilderment. "Are you really about to tell me you're just going to hand away a pair of custom, hand crafted wings without any charge or expectation to return them?" The stuffing motions that her hand was making to pack her bags had slowly stopped. "Don't you normally charge thousands of dollars for these things? I would feel like I'm stealing from you with your normal prices, let alone literally stealing them!"
"Oh god Colly, don't say that, this isn't theft. You're a friend, not a random customer." Chloe tilted her head while looking away, as if she had just confused herself. "That's not to say customers can't be friends. I just mean-"
"Chloe it's okay, I get it. I'm just amazed that you're willing to give these to anyone," giggled Colette. She saw Chloe's little tangents as an adorable quirk of hers. "I can't really fit them onto a bus to head back anyway, I'd probably have to buy out like, three different seats..."
"...Right, I forgot you don't fly much in the city." Chloe stepped back, and looked down, as if defeated.
Colette zipped up the second of two bags, and stowed them to the door. She walked to Chloe's side of the room and surprised her with a light hug. "I'll text you when I get home. It was wonderful staying with you again." She made her way to the door without much of a second thought, not realizing Chloe was fidgeting and looking down, as if she was embarrased by the hug. As she approached the door was ready to say goodbye, she heard Chloe shuffle behind her.
"You're coming back soon, right...?" Chloe's face was almost red. "I-I mean, if you want, I mean. I just like the company, and um-- Well it's been so long since your last visit and I-" She was stuttering so much that she couldn't finish her sentence.
Colette looked on with awe. It finally clicked in her head, something that should have been dead obvious in hindsight. She was so blindsided by her businesslike attitude that she couldn't see it until now. Oh god, she thought, she likes me. Chloe likes me.
She thought to herself for a moment, completely freezing and seperating her consciousness from the outside world. She wanted to come back now, seeing Chloe like this, but she had big plans for this upcoming summer and fall. She wanted to start a career in the city as a skypainter. She had lined up so much up to this point, was she really going to thwart all this buildup and effort now for her? Was it worth it? She hadn't said it earlier, but she felt the same as Chloe - this had been the best four days she had in years. The magnitude of what she was about to decide was starting to mount on her; there were two very different paths available to her now. Chloe had been staring at the floor this whole time, she thought. She had to say something now.
Colette looked at Chloe with a serious but soft tone. "I'm coming back in a month. I'll let you know more when I get home. I have a lot of details to iron out but it'll happen."
With a wide smile, Chloe sprung up and hugged Colette tightly, as if she was a little kid. She nearly knocked her over, forgetting that she was much taller than Colette. Staying huddled for a minute, Colette knew that she had made the right decision.
