Concept & Explanation
Special interview with Dr. Waltz, 2 weeks after the tragedy:
“-So... Dr. Waltz, can you please explain me a little more about this triangular device you created around that strange monolith on Mars?
-Well you know, it’s a gravity regulator device. It’s powered by two engines. Those engines are connected to well… you know that triangular monolith. For some reason one of the generators stopped working last week. Luckily it didn’t cause any accident, those martian rocks are still floating and are quite stable. I really thought it would cause a lot of damage. It’s an experimental device after all.
-And what happened to the shield that was protecting the whole complex?
-I have no idea. Technically I have no evidence of the cause whatsoever. Maybe the monolith caused it.
-Why have you accepted to work with the MCOP (Martian Colonization Organisation Plan) ?
-Let me take to you this way… We all have expenses don’t we? Life has become very unpleasant on Earth.
-Do you have the feeling that you are partly responsible of the incident that caused the destruction of the whole complex?
-If I had telekinesis power to land a comet probably. *laughs*
-You are assuming the comet impact was inevitable?
-I don’t know, when the comet hit, the shield was off. During impact, a sudden pressure change occured. All the rocks that were floating suddenly got out of control. See these pictures? Luckily we were able to get the footage through the internal cameras.
-Will you ever accept to make another deal to create a more powerful & secure device?
-I don’t know. Probably not.”

althought I don't think a comet would be that small size ;) Asteroid rather, but that's not the point of this contest :)
congratz to the 2nd place, original concept, even better fitting to the contest theme than the actuall winner imho.
