This is my recreation of the Temple of Venus Genetrix. I've had several requests to publish a world download with just the temple without the accompanying forum (fyi this temple is in the Forum of Julius Caesar).

A lot of the info about this temple could be found in my Forum of Julius Caesar post: https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/forum-of-julius-caesar/ However, the Temple of Venus Genetrix, briefly, was commissioned by Julius Caesar himself in dedication to the matron goddess of the Julii family, Venus. Caesar commissioned the temple for political clout and dictatorial dominance, and he ordered a forum complex to be built with the temple to expand the already large Forum Romanum.

The Temple of Venus Genetrix had a very unique podium, which included staircases on the sides of the temple and a platform for oratories. It was believed that Caesar conducted speeches on this platform during his reign -- his successor, Augustus, may have also done the same. The temple also featured an elaborate interior, with inlaid columns, a barrel vaulted ceiling, and an apse pushed towards the back.
