In-Progress Build.
Welcome to New Light City.
A city built with intention. A world shaped by light.
New Light City is a long-running worldbuilding project set on the island of Amahikari. It’s a modern, transit-oriented city-state that blends urban design with narrative, allowing the world to grow in a way that feels planned, lived-in and believable.
The map has been built gradually since 2019. The terrain is fully custom, shaped with WorldEdit, and the city’s layout follows real planning logic rather than random block placement. Streets, rail lines, districts and waterways all connect with purpose.
The New Light Metropolitan Area is organised into four main Wards:
Meihama – surrounded by a ring of mountains, made up of close neighbourhoods, parklands and quiet residential streets.
Tobai – a ward of canals, lakes, research centres and bridges.
New Parramatta – a growing riverside district designed for long-term expansion.
The Capitol District – the civic heart of the island, home to government buildings, plazas and major institutions.
Every station, hill, coastline and skyline fits into a larger vision: a city built to feel coherent and full of life. Nothing is placed “just because”. The aim is to create a world that feels like it could exist somewhere.
Here, light glows through every window, and every street tells a story. Spend time exploring it and it starts to feel familiar in the same way real cities do.
Residents say it’s a feeling hard to name. Visitors say it’s magic.
New Light City — Where the light never fades.

Update #18 : by NLC 01/28/2026 9:39:08 pmJanuary 29 @ 2:39 am UTC
Date of Issue: 29 January 2026
Authorised by: Alannah Clarke, Member for Central Meihama - Minister of Public Communications
Classification: Public Release
The New Light City Parliament, in coordination with relevant civic agencies, is pleased to issue the following development report for public record.
The Ministries of Transportation and Public Utilities have completed construction of the Inter-City Link (Red Line) service, marking a major milestone in the expansion of the New Light Metro network. Preliminary planning for the Southshore Link (Emerald Line) is underway. MiniT, in partnership with MiniPub, have commenced land surveying and corridor assessments to inform future development.
MiniT is also pleased to announce the completion of the Sunrise Coast (Aqua Line) service. New stations include: Sunrise, Brightwater, Crystal Beach, Brampton Heads, Voyager Beach and Aurora Beach, with services terminating at Sunset Station. This line improves access to coastal communities and strengthens connections between the mainland and shoreline precincts. The opening of Sunrise Station provides a new interchange point for passengers connecting to the Inter-City Link and the future Southshore Link.
Upgrades have been completed at Tobai, North University, Meihama and East Meihama Stations to expand service capacity on the Inter-City Link. Works include platform improvements, circulation upgrades and enhanced accessibility features. East Minami Station has also undergone upgrades to improve pedestrian access to the Capitol Subway loop, supporting safer and more efficient movement within the Capitol District.
The Ministries of Housing and Public Utilities have approved public works permits for the East Minami and Minami neighbourhoods in the Capitol District. New mixed-use developments are now under construction, supporting residential growth and local commerce while maintaining the character of surrounding neighbourhoods.
Renovation and remediation works have been completed at Railway Park in Ginkawa, Tobai Ward. The park has been repurposed from infrastructure originally constructed for the former Amahikari High Speed Rail project. The project was suspended due to shifting priorities toward sustainable urban mobility and local transit investment. Railway Park is now open for public use and forms part of the city’s growing network of elevated walkways and green corridors.
Voter enrolment is now open for the upcoming New Light City Parliamentary elections. Residents can register at vote.gov.nlc/register or through the NLC Link app. Elections will be held on 2 December, with early voting opening on 11 November.
The Ministry of Agriculture has reported continued success in its Firefly Habitat Remediation Project. Firefly populations are increasing in restored river and wetland areas, reflecting ongoing community and civic efforts to protect local ecosystems.
MiniAg would like to remind all residents that Biosecurity is Everyone's Business. Residents are encouraged to report bat sightings via the NLC Link app, or by calling 1-300-BATS. Learn more about the programme at agriculture.gov.nlc/bats.
The Ministry of Safety would like to remind all residents to dispose of waste in allocated bins. Fines apply.
Emergencies: Dial 555.
The Ministry of Health would like to advise residents to remain indoors during periods of extreme heat. Wet bulb temperatures above 35°C can pose serious health risks.
Emergencies: Dial 555.
Check back for further updates.
