Hello everyone!

As you know it has been a couple of years since I updated this. No, I haven't stopped building! For the record, this is an individual side project of mine; my intent is to not finish it as expressly as possible, but more so to work on it when I have inspiration. Just a preemptive disclaimer: This project is on a community server, and we are currently working on a system to allow you all to come and visit! For now, though, please wait patiently for the IP once we're ready, and I also am unable to post the map file due to it being on a server (apologies to those interested!). Now let me get to the real updates:

Per the original post, you know that I was originally making a replica of terminal 7 at LAX. Since then, my builds have expanded to include an actual city (more on that in future posts), and an original design made more sense, so I transferred the replica to another world to finish at a later date. I will eventually post that as its own individual project!

This is the main international airport for my city, Cobalan. The airport now has three structurally and architecturally sound terminals: A, B, and C in order from south to north. I will describe each terminal:

Terminal A
is an all original design inspired by the arching grand terminals of the 21st century. I serve as principal architect, collaborating with Lucassette for the concourse design. Color palette is influenced by the coppertone sand of the American Southwest. Passengers are encapsulated in serene, shell-like spaces of cyan glass, contrasting the orange, black, and the occasional splash of green. Speaking of green, various tropical and desert plants emerge throughout the terminal, transforming the industrial type architecture more into that of a greenhouse. Because of the multifaceted mission the terminal seeks to accomplish, much consideration was put into the interior layout to facilitate the efficiency and ease of passenger wayfinding. A monumentally striking terminal constructed under many constraints, this magnificent terminal may very well be my magnum opus. A true desert oasis.

Terminal B continues the desert theme. A new construction and original design to replace the existing LAX T7 replica, I serve as principal architect. Desert earth tones dominate the space, with the occasional oxidized copper accent; it is inspired by adobe architecture. Bold white, contrasting ceilings serve as transitional areas between the warm feeling great spaces. Greenhouse inspired skylights are also prominent in these transitions, giving the impression of traversing through the out of doors. The concourse great hall boasts an organic market-like space with a fountain and skylight central to it. Floor to ceiling windows in the concourse serve great views of the airport on all sides, due to being the central terminal. An overall bold design that blends into the desert biome this airport resides in. By standing out from the typical clinical airport feel, it's sense of self leaves a lasting feel of comfort among passengers.

Terminal C may be the final terminal on the map, but in a historical sense, it was the first. This terminal was intentionally designed with expansions and renovations to give a sense of realism and character. Differing from the other two terminals, this one has an all white theme, with design cues from Miami International Airport. A subtle circle motif is present throughout the renovated terminal "headhouse." Also prominently displayed is a rainbow motif in the form of public art installations (courtesy of Garage_, with assistance from Lucassette). The physical building itself is a blending of three generations of airport architecture. The original 1960s check-in hall now serves as the international arrivals area. The three story headhouse evokes that of early 90s rectilinear architecture. Finally, the cyan glazed concourse prominently displays early 2000s minimalism. A terminal surviving many iterations still remains a seamless travel experience.
Now for some logistics. The terminals are all interconnected both airside and landside via trains and hallways. Terminals A and B share an underground centralized federal inspection (passport control) area for international arrivals with dedicated exits and recheck facilities for each terminal respectively. Terminal C has its own international federal inspection facility as well as recheck services. Terminal B and C share a domestic baggage claim within Terminal B; Terminal A has its own. There is a subway rail station in the basement of the parking garage, as well as an international rail terminal in the lower level of Terminal A (more info on that to come later).

Some updates on non terminal related airport projects: There are now two full service hotels adjacent to the terminal area, as well as the "consolidated ground transportation center" parking garage building. Also on the property is a 10 storey airport administration office building. On the east side of the airport complex (opposite of the terminal buildings) there is planned a cargo terminal, and some hangars. At the south end of the complex, an aviation school is being constructed.

While most of it is my original work, I have to pay dues to my friends who have advised and assisted me with this project. They give me the motivation to keep going. Also, I can't discount the fact that this wouldn't be possible without 12 years of experience in building, an extensive amount of architectural research, and also my real life aviation experience of what my true passion really is.

If you made it this far, I appreciate your interest in my project! From this point forward I'll try to give out updates only when big phases of the project are completed. Thanks again - Sid
