Welcome to Chatsworth house, ancestral home and family seat to the Dukes and Duchesses of Devonshire. The main house was constructed in the mid 1500s by Bess of Hardwick and her husband the Earl of Shrewsbury; the north wing extension and belvedere tower was added to the house by the 6th Duke in the 1800s. The grounds were the work of the renowned landscape architect Lancelot 'capability' Brown as well as Joseph Paxton who used Chatsworth as a test bed for his design of Crystal palace. The water cascade was the work of Monsieur Grillet who had experience working on the waterworks at Versailles for Louis XIV. Any comments are more than welcome :)
