The green peafowl is a bird of the Phasianidae family. It's the national bird of Myanmar.
---
It's a splendid bird native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and Indochina, but today only a few isolated populations remain in Cambodia, cause of the deforestation.
It feeds mainly on berries, insects, reptiles and rodents, but greatly appreciates flower petals, buds and leaves.
Unlike male Indian peacocks, which will congregate for courtship, male green peafowls will prefer to stay away from other males. They will rather remain territorial, creating groups of females.
They live in all kinds of habitats, like many kinds of forests, plains, savannahs, bamboo groves...they seem to prioritize areas with water points.
