  so here is my question, what are the advantages of posting a modpack here as opposed to say curseforge where they give you $$$?

  well it is your prerogative not to use them, however they also provide a very good base for building your own packs from... you can live on a barren, bacon free world if you so choose.

  you cannot steal that which is free... however, to use such without giving proper credit where said credit is due, is just the same.. nope dont have that issue.. as for not liking packs, many devs love them as it gets their content wider distribution.

  Not sure, for me it's kinda stealing(most of the mods don't have permission to be used)
  I am not a fan of using modpacks, I prefer all the mods by choice, not forced. What if I don't want any new plants or pigs
